  9. Another sysop and user-friendly simple PPE from Banana Republic to solve
  10. a problem of mine.  Maybe solve one of yours too.

  12. I hate flaming but it seems some just can't help it. So, I set up a
  13. Flaming base on my (almost finished) BBS. Hopefully, the flames will stay
  14. in this base or I'll have to do some deleting :)

  16. The problem with flaming- in my mind- is that it's hard to keep it in one
  17. place. The arguments tend to make their way into, and affect, the other
  18. bases and members on the board. Not good.

  20. It is far easier to keep tempers to a minimum if the true identity of the
  21. Flamer is hidden. PCB 15.x allows the ALIAS command which works great. I
  22. set up the flaming base to use aliases. The problem is then making the
  23. choice of choosing and using an Alias easy for my users.

  25. PCB has the "W"rite info command which allows choosing an Alias but to
  26. get to it, you have to wade thru all the other possible info you can
  27. change... password, phone number(s), etc. This PPE allows changing just
  28. the ALIAS name.

  30. Simple enough to install. Make a command in your CMDList and point to
  31. this PPE. I call it- strangely enough- ALIAS and put ALIAS as a command
  32. in my Flaming base menu.

  34. NOTE: In case you were wondering... you CAN use QWK to UL msgs into an
  35. aliased base safely. It WILL change the message sender name to your
  36. alias. Nice to know, eh?

  38. BTW, I say this is version 1 but, to be honest, I see no reason to
  39. further develop it. Does the job just fine.
